An archaeozoological and taphonomical analysis has been carried out on the macromammals remains coming from the sandy levels US 3S1-5 of the archaeological deposits of Isernia La Pineta (Molise, Italy). The study revealed that this assemblage has been modified by a relevant anthropic activity related to butchery actions as cutmarks and intentional bone breakage. Thus, it is possibile to confirm that human groups that lived in Isernia La Pineta during the Middle Pleistocene, by their intensive activities of exploitation and processing animal carcasses, were the main factors of modification of the faunal assemblage.
