“DA FAR BELLA UNA DONNA, HOW TO MAKE A WOMAN BEAUTIFUL...” FRAGRANCE RECIPES FROM THE ESTE COURT IN A MANUSCRIPT OF THE 16TH CENTURY – REINTERPRETATION IN A MODERN KEY Pseudo-Savonarola, class II 147, also called Ricettario Medico-Cosmetico (Medical-Cosmetic Book), is a manuscript of the sixteenth century kept in the renowned Ariostea Library of Ferrara, which also includes some recipes (among many) clearly aimed at the deodorization of the person. Some are recipes for intimate hygiene, others are perfuming and whitening formulations. After a careful analysis of the raw materials we can scientifi cally validate the claimed properties. Thanks to modern technology ancient recipes can still be reproduced today, following the European regulations.
