Documents concerning the hospitalization of French soldiers stationed in Ferrara (Bataillon de la Place et de la Citadelle de Ferrare) are safeguarded in the Municipal Historical Archive of Ferrara. The research follows two directives with different competences: the identification of branch hospitals of the Venerabile Arcispedale S. Anna and the analysis of remedies in use and of pathologies treated which is the subject of this study. The expense notes (months of fiorile e pratile of 9° Anno Repubblicano) are useful for framing the galenics: it is possible a focus on remedies prepared in the S. Anna dispensary under the prescription of French doctors and surgeons. A huge number of specialities emerges for the treatment of fevers, syphilis and scabies, common diseases among the military.
