A new species of Cerapopsis (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Kamakidae), C. alexandri Munari, 2013, was described from the Strait of Messina (central Mediterranean Sea). The specimens were collected in July 2011 and January 2012, in front of the village of Favazzina (Southern Italy), from 40 to 50 m depth. This species differs from the congeneric C. longipes by morphological characteristics of mouth parts, telson, and uropod 1 and 2 marginal spinulation. Further differences are detailed by Munari (2014). The two Mediterranean species of Cerapopsis also exhibit different habitat preferences.

Abstract
A new species of Cerapopsis (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Kamakidae), C. alexandri Munari, 2013, was described from the Strait of Messina (central Mediterranean Sea). The specimens were collected in July 2011 and January 2012, in front of the village of Favazzina (Southern Italy), from 40 to 50 m depth. This species differs from the congeneric C. longipes by morphological characteristics of mouth parts, telson, and uropod 1 and 2 marginal spinulation. Further differences are detailed by Munari (2014). The two Mediterranean species of Cerapopsis also exhibit different habitat preferences.File in questo prodotto:
