In this work we present the prototype of a smart window that combines multiple features as energy production, energy storage, lighting and shading control. The energy production is provided by a Luminescent Solar Concentrator (LSC) coupled with silicon solar cells on its sides, the energy is stored in a Lithium-ions battery and is used to provide either illumination through an array of LEDs or shading control through a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) or Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) panel. All these devices are connected as a stand-alone system hosted inside a standard window frame.

Abstract
In this work we present the prototype of a smart window that combines multiple features as energy production, energy storage, lighting and shading control. The energy production is provided by a Luminescent Solar Concentrator (LSC) coupled with silicon solar cells on its sides, the energy is stored in a Lithium-ions battery and is used to provide either illumination through an array of LEDs or shading control through a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) or Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) panel. All these devices are connected as a stand-alone system hosted inside a standard window frame.File in questo prodotto:
