The present study focused on the preparation, characterization and in vivo biological evaluation of a new class of high bone affinity 99mTc-labeled bisphosphonates-bile acid derivatives. In particular four different bile acid (chenodeoxy-cholic, ursodeoxycholic, hydeoxycholic annd cholic acid) conjugated with bisphosphonate were labeled with 99mTc and SPECT studies werw carried out in normal mice. The present findings indicate that 99mTc-ursodeoxychoilc-bisphosphonate holds great potential for bone scintigraphy and may also be examined for its ability to bind 188Re with a view to developing a potential therapeutic agent.
