Dialysis patients are characterized by poor physical performance and reduced quality of life. The EXCITE (EXcercise Introduction To Enhance performance in dialysis) study is a randomized multicentric trial aiming to test whether a simple personalized walking exercise program prescribed in the dialysis centre but performed at home improves the degree of fitness in dialysis patients. The study demonstrates that a personalized, home-based, low intensity six-month exercise program improves physical performance in dialysis patients. The simplicity and adaptability of this exercise program makes it well suited to the needs of a high risk population like dialysis patients.

Abstract
Dialysis patients are characterized by poor physical performance and reduced quality of life. The EXCITE (EXcercise Introduction To Enhance performance in dialysis) study is a randomized multicentric trial aiming to test whether a simple personalized walking exercise program prescribed in the dialysis centre but performed at home improves the degree of fitness in dialysis patients. The study demonstrates that a personalized, home-based, low intensity six-month exercise program improves physical performance in dialysis patients. The simplicity and adaptability of this exercise program makes it well suited to the needs of a high risk population like dialysis patients.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
