This paper reports the results of an extensive experimental investigation carried out on damaged R/C bridge decks removed from the “Fornello” viaduct of the Orte-Ravenna highway, Italy. The study was conducted in order to evaluate the concrete damage level and to assess a possible strengthening technique for repair making use of fibre reinforced polymers (FRP). In particular, the problem of the FRP debonding and concrete cover separation in the presence of damaged concrete is addressed and the effectiveness of different practical approaches to improve the composite-concrete interface is investigated.

Abstract
This paper reports the results of an extensive experimental investigation carried out on damaged R/C bridge decks removed from the “Fornello” viaduct of the Orte-Ravenna highway, Italy. The study was conducted in order to evaluate the concrete damage level and to assess a possible strengthening technique for repair making use of fibre reinforced polymers (FRP). In particular, the problem of the FRP debonding and concrete cover separation in the presence of damaged concrete is addressed and the effectiveness of different practical approaches to improve the composite-concrete interface is investigated.File in questo prodotto:
