The reptation is due to the presence of aleatory fields of interaction, arising, in particulate recording media, from the microscopic configuration of the particle magnetic moments and of their orientations in the assembly. So, it can be considered as an experimental technique apt to study the magnetic interactions, in addition to the known techniques. Besides, because its origin is in the microscopic configuration, the reptation values are expected to depend on the state of dispersion of the particles in the media, and an experimental correlation between the reptation and the quality of the dispersion is found. © 1991.
