Abstract
After years of studies and experiments, today, VoIP (Voice over IP), is a widely used and reliable technique in order to offer less expensive voice transmission services, even if some of its aspects haven’t found, up to now, a definitive and standardized solution in order to completely substitute traditional telephony services. The problems that had to be addressed in the analysis and the deployment of a VoIP infrastructure are not only the QoS, but also how to guarantee high availability VoIP services, the same way users are accustomed with traditional telephony. In this paper it is presented the VoIP infrastructure realised by University of Ferrara, the advanced services implemented, and how, in that architecture, the reliability and high availability problems have been addressed with a low cost solution based on Open Source software.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
