Abstract
The aim of the project is to investigate the theoretical and computational properties of some recent gradient methods of Barzilai-Borwein type for Mathematical Programming and, possibly, to derive general results for the corresponding class of algorithms. From the computational viewpoint, the interest is on challenging large-scale problems, mainly related to real-world Machine Learning applications, that needs high performance resources to be faced in reasonable time.
