Lower Miocene shallow water carbonates from soiuthern Apenniens (S Italy) are analysed in terms of rhodolith contents. Several rhodolith assemblges characterised a channelised area which was described according to the coralline algal associations. Paleoeoclogical analysis of these coralline algal assemblages was performed.
