A thermodynamically consistent nonlocal continuum damage model of integral type is presented. It can be considered an extension to Continuum Damage Mechanics of a similar approach presented by Polizzotto, Borino et al. for softening plasticity [1, 2, 3]. The correspondent ¯nite element implementation and related numerical issues are discussed. A two-dimensional example is analyzed by ¯nite element technique
