The main aim of the paper is to provide a comparative analysis of the medium-run performance which emerges in countries with “different models of capitalism”, e.g. market oriented and social market oriented. This comparative analysis seems important not only to understand the recent process of changes in these countries, but also to evaluate the dynamics in some specific nations for which the debate on different models of capitalism implies an emphasis on specific adjustment and structural change policies. The work focuses on the sectoral dynamics for industrialized countries in the seventies and eighties, and on the comparison with the industrial performance for Italy.

Abstract
The main aim of the paper is to provide a comparative analysis of the medium-run performance which emerges in countries with “different models of capitalism”, e.g. market oriented and social market oriented. This comparative analysis seems important not only to understand the recent process of changes in these countries, but also to evaluate the dynamics in some specific nations for which the debate on different models of capitalism implies an emphasis on specific adjustment and structural change policies. The work focuses on the sectoral dynamics for industrialized countries in the seventies and eighties, and on the comparison with the industrial performance for Italy.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
