The paper presents some considerations as to how the criteria which were behind the setting up of the review Economia Politica, have influenced the direction and the development of the Review. First, the paper presents the results of a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the contributions which appeared in the years 1984-1987, based on three different theoretical approaches - classical, neoclassical and a keynesian type framework - and on the arguments considered. Secondly, we discuss some areas of research which, although they have been treated in the Review, have only rarely been the focus of the debate. These are the problem of information, 25 that of institutions, and those argument relating to technological change and growth. These are areas, widely discussed both at an international and national level, prompt important questions regarding the constant recourse to the notion of interdependence between individual behaviour and collective outcomes. These areas also provide useful insights which suggest a return to a theoretical system which centres on conflictuality between individual and social level of analysis in which theory, analysis and policy go hand in hand with their historical and social origins
