The present invention describes the use of compounds able to block or inhibit the NOP receptor, in order to prepare drugs useful for management of Parkinson’s disease and clinically related parkinsonism. The compounds described in this invention encompass peptide, peptide-derivative or non-peptide molecules, bearing properties of antagonists or partial agonists at NOP receptors. Such compounds can be used also in combination with other drugs effective for management of Parkinson’s disease and clinically related disorders.
