The inhibition of Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) of austenitic stainless steel wires in boiling (130 °C) magnesium chloride solution was tempted by the use of organic compounds. Various N-containing substances were tested and the inhibition efficiency was evaluated by the measure of the failure time of AISI 304 wires under constant stress conditions. The trend of the failure time and of the potential vs time, the polarization curves, the current transients on scratched electrodes were recorded with the aim of interpreting the action mecahnsim of the additives under examination.

Abstract
The inhibition of Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) of austenitic stainless steel wires in boiling (130 °C) magnesium chloride solution was tempted by the use of organic compounds. Various N-containing substances were tested and the inhibition efficiency was evaluated by the measure of the failure time of AISI 304 wires under constant stress conditions. The trend of the failure time and of the potential vs time, the polarization curves, the current transients on scratched electrodes were recorded with the aim of interpreting the action mecahnsim of the additives under examination.File in questo prodotto:
