The behaviour of 80Fe-20B amorphous alloy is compared to that of polycrystalline iron (Armco iron) in 0.1 N solutions of HBr, HCl, HClO4 and H2SO4. Amorphous alloy dissolves faster than polycrystalline Armco iron in all acid solutions. This fact may be attributed to a higher value of the exchange current density for the cathodic reaction for the former material.
