The AA report their experience of an epidemiological observatory on surgical infections. The casuistry consists in 266 patients in three months. The criteria of classification were the type of surgery and the type of wound. Every case was scheduled in a nosological card making a note of possible postoperative infections complications valuing after their features. The most interesting data are: infections in clean wounds = 2,3%; clean - contaminated =8,1%; contaminated =2,5%; dirty =30,4%. In conclusion several consideration about the great importance of postoperative infections in surgical patients are discussed.
