The contribution introduces the first volume of the new series Archaeoastronomy and Cultural Astronomy, promoted by the Italian Society for Archaeoastronomy and Cultural Astronomy ETS. It presents the scientific and editorial context of the initiative and outlines the structure of the volume, devoted to the transmission of astronomical knowledge, the relationship between architecture, orientation and light phenomena, and the cultural images and interpretations of the sky.
