In 1962 SIV, a company of the ENI group, was founded in San Salvo (CH), producing glass for the automotive industry, soon becoming the European leader and attracting new inhabitants to this area of Abruzzo. The SIV village was built to house the workers, in a rural area not far from the factory, but the town planning and development programme for the area seemed to come to a halt fairly soon, leaving this area without services for its inhabitants.
