Abstract

In the late 15th and early 16th centuries, several churches were built in Ferrara with curved gabled façades (San Francesco, San Giorgio, Santa Maria in Vado, San Silvestro). This language, which wa s not very widespread, was abandoned in the city after the earthquakes of 1570. Today, few visible traces remain in Santa Maria in Vado, while the other façades have been rebuilt in different styles, so that this architectural peculiarity has been forgotten.
