We read the article ‘Corneal endothelial cell therapy: feasibility of cell culture from corneas stored in organ culture’ by He Z et al. (He et al. 2021) with great interest. The authors cultured corneal endothelial cells from the tissues stored up to 2 months in organ culture (OC) media. It is worth exploring the extendable storage capacity of tissues for cell culture as it increases the sourcing possibility and utilization potential of tissues especially from countries with limited availability of the donor corneas.
