This special issue aims to provide novel research in the fields of renewable and low-carbon energy provision, energy efficiency and energy storage presented at the conference “Alternative energy sources, materials and technologies” (AESMT’24). The conference was held in Sofia, Bulgaria on the 14th and 15th of May 2024. The conference was attended by representatives of 23 countries (Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cuba, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom). A total of 92 articles was presented at the event, of which 63 were oral presentations and the rest posters. Following preliminary review, 22 articles were selected for submission to this special of Applied Thermal Engineering.
