The Grand Paris # Climat programme was a multi-site SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION curated by the architect–urbanist teams of the Scientific Council of the Atelier International du Grand Paris (AIGP), a state-funded metropolitan research platform exploring the future of Greater Paris. From 5 November to 20 December 2015, in the run-up to COP21 and the creation of the Métropole du Grand Paris (1 January 2016), it deployed exhibitions, conferences, walks and workshops across a network of key cultural and academic venues: Palais de Tokyo, Grand Palais (Pavillon Territoires et Climat), Musée de l’Homme, Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine–Chaillot, Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Maison de l’Architecture en Île-de-France, ENSA Paris-Val de Seine, École d’architecture de la Ville et des Territoires, Université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée, Maison de la RATP, Grande Halle de la Villette, Anis Gras, 6B and others. Positioned as a major French platform connecting COP21 to metropolitan spatial strategies, the symposium–exhibition addressed climate adaptation, metropolitan resilience and socio-economic transition through four main objectives (“occuper mieux”, “produire autrement”, “vivre bien partout”, “relier / tisser”) and a series of thematic symposia on risk, resilience and urban projects. All fourteen AIGP teams jointly ensured the scientific coherence of the programme, designing the exhibition devices and panels, contributing to related publications and animating an intense calendar of public debates, workshops, exploratory walks and citizen encounters in different territories of the Grand Paris. The six-week programme attracted a broad and diverse audience of residents, professionals, researchers, students and decision-makers, confirming the central role of cities and metropolitan regions in contemporary climatic challenges.
