The article recovers the basic guidelines of the different interpretations by Georg Simmel regarding the work of Auguste Rodin. It emphasizes the connections between Simmel’s interest in the French sculptor and his conception of modernity as a constant movement. In this sense, it contrasts these interpretations with those that the German sociologist makes of Michelangelo.
