Cutin-based poly(ester-urethane)s were synthesized from cutin extracted from tomato by-products, by reaction with 1,4-butanediol, and isophorone diisocyanate via a two-step process. These polymers underwent characterization using ATR, NMR, and thermal analysis techniques such as TGA and DSC. Subsequently, these polymers were applied as coatings on a paper substrate using a developed protocol to achieve homogenous coatings of the crosslinked amorphous polymers. These coatings effectively endowed the porous substrate with excellent barrier properties against both liquid water and grease.

Abstract
Cutin-based poly(ester-urethane)s were synthesized from cutin extracted from tomato by-products, by reaction with 1,4-butanediol, and isophorone diisocyanate via a two-step process. These polymers underwent characterization using ATR, NMR, and thermal analysis techniques such as TGA and DSC. Subsequently, these polymers were applied as coatings on a paper substrate using a developed protocol to achieve homogenous coatings of the crosslinked amorphous polymers. These coatings effectively endowed the porous substrate with excellent barrier properties against both liquid water and grease.File in questo prodotto:
