La casa abitata. Leonardo Savioli tra libertà e ricerca formale

In 1965 the exhibition La casa abitata was held in the rooms of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. Thought of as a biennial event, it actually had only one edition. Fourteen groups of architects were invited to participate in the exhibition, each of which was given a surface area of ​​between 25 and 35 square metres. One of the most interesting creations was that of Leonardo Savioli who proposed a solution where architecture, furniture and objects of use had no hierarchical relationships. The living cell was made up of prefabricated elements defined with a strongly characterized language capable of restoring a formal homogeneity independent of their arrangement. In the designer's intentions, the arrangement of the elements could be chosen by whoever would live in the cell. The project should be seen as an open proposal on how inhabitant and architect can contribute to the definition of a new model of contemporary living.
