As stressed in the past, Prometheus Bound might have been influenced by an illustrious literary model: the Iliad. The main focus of the play is the power struggle between two enraged characters. This analysis aims to develop this idea in a manner different from the comparison proposed above, which linked Zeus to Achilles and Prometheus to Agamemnon. The shared characteristics of suffering, anger, stubbornness, resentment towards lack of recognition, defiance, and the desire for revenge are what unite the hero, Achilles, and the titan, Prometheus. This parallel exploration leads to a deeper understanding of the mind of the so-called “philanthropic” god and sheds light on what we perceive as the ultimate message of the text: téchne is far weaker than Necessity.
