Wooden composite beams were a technical innovation that generated an important transformation of 15th-century architecture in Ferrara and were also a response to the search for renewal of humanistic era. The carpenter who provided the right solution for Palazzo di Belriguardo was Peregrino Punzinella: rewarded by Leonello d'Este, he belonged to a family of carpenters and in this context of experience he may have acquired the skills for an undertaking that would change the aspect of the city.
