One of the most enigmatic paintings in Ferrara’s artistic heritage, found in the Scipione Borghese, collection is a Saint Catherine Reading, traditionally attributed to Dosso Dossi. This research, through a rereading of the sources, aims to hypothesize a chronological location of this painting and to reconstruct the story of its historical-critical fortune, made up of very different but critically significant attributions, up to the most modern readings, possible through the aid of radiographic investigations.
