For several years now, European countries have been orienting health policies towards a reorganisation of healthcare services in response to the main current challenges. The global crisis associated with the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted, on the one hand, the need to strengthen proximity care and, on the other, the importance of health as a shared and collective value, due to the fact that one’s health is influenced by the context and is strictly related to the well-being of the community. In Italy, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan’s allocated resources for the activation of a network of territorial healthcare facilities (such as Community Houses and Community Hospitals) should be deployed for the implementation of facilities aimed at, of course, responding to individual health needs, but also at “caring” for the community, through the reactivation of social participation. But what does “design for the community” mean? The recent Swedish experience, different in various Regions, offers an interesting opportunity to reflect on the meaning of “close to the community” and how this vision can be pursued through design.
Da parecchi anni, ormai, i Paesi europei hanno indirizzato le politiche sanitarie verso una riorganizzazione dei servizi in risposta alle attuali sfide. La crisi globale generata dalla pandemia da Covid-19 ha evidenziato, da un lato, l’esigenza di rafforzare le cure di prossimità e, dall’altro, ha messo in luce la necessità di considerare la salute come un bene comune della collettività. La salute della persona, infatti, è influenzata dal contesto interazionale che la circonda e non può prescindere da una condizione di benessere della propria comunità. In Italia, dunque, le risorse del Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza investite per l’attivazione di una rete di strutture sanitarie e socio-sanitarie territoriali (quali Case della Comunità e Ospedali di Comunità) devono essere impiegate al fine di realizzare interventi progettuali volti – oltre che alla cura del singolo – a prendersi cura della comunità, riattivando la partecipazione sociale. Ma cosa significa progettare per la comunità? L’esperienza svedese, frutto di anni di diverse sperimentazioni a livello regionale, offre un’interessante occasione di riflessione sul significato del concetto di “vicinanza” alla comunità e come esso si possa manifestare ed esplicitare attraverso il progetto.
