Managing a major event offers many insights for design-related fields, from urban landscape design to product design, from the built environment to the virtual one. By setting the achievement of the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda, event-related activities become opportunities for positive environmental outcomes: the choice and characteristics of locations, the management and adaptation of infrastructure and facilities, the design, construction, dismantling and storage of temporary installations, the design and management of energy consumption, the management of catering and recovery of unsold food, the waste management the mobility management the safety and security, and the restoration of the physical location to its original condition. The COVID-19 Pandemic caused the radical suspension of major events related to the entertainment industry, such as concerts and festivals, both outdoor and indoor for about two years. The reopening took place in a different global context, characterized by the real effects of climate change, with the necessity of a thoughtful, conscientious and safe commitment to a sustainable environment (social, economic, and medical). Organizers of large events have the opportunity to reclaim their spaces and audiences by also taking advantage of recent improvements offered by new technologies. Many of these innovations developed exponentially because of the crucial role that they played in the successful management of the pandemic. A challenge of using new technology for event management is taking advantage of the enhancements offered without altering the emotional component of these mass events, in which the social dimension is the principal reason for spectator appeal.

Abstract
A challenge of using new technology for event management is taking advantage of the enhancements offered without altering the emotional component of these mass events, in which the social dimension is the principal reason for spectator appeal.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
