Managing a major event offers many insights for design-related fields, from urban landscape design to product delivery, from the built environment to the virtual environment. By setting the achievement of the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda as a goal, event-related activities become opportunities for positive environmental outcomes: the choice and characteristics of locations; management and adaptation of infrastructure and facilities; design, construction, dismantling and storage of temporary installations; design and management of energy consumption; management of catering and recovery of unsold food; waste management; mobility management; safety and security; and finally, restoration of the physical location to its original condition. The COVID-19 Pandemic caused the radical suspension of major events related to the entertainment industry, such as concerts and festivals, both outdoor and indoor for about two years. In a global context characterized by the real effects of climate change, a thoughtful, conscientious and safe reopening requires a commitment to a sustainable environment (social, economic, and medical). Organizers of large events have the opportunity to reclaim their spaces and audiences by also taking advantage of recent environmental improvements, especially those offered by new technologies. Many of these innovations developed exponentially because of the crucial role that they played in the successful management of the pandemic. A challenge of using new technology for event management is taking advantage of the improvements offered without altering the emotional component of these mass events, in which the social dimension is a principal reason for spectator appeal.

Abstract
A challenge of using new technology for event management is taking advantage of the improvements offered without altering the emotional component of these mass events, in which the social dimension is a principal reason for spectator appeal.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
