The article approaches the question of intralingual translation in Leichte Sprache and in Einfache Sprache from the perspective of German teaching and training of language mediators in the Italian university context. After a comparative overview of the language simplification efforts in the health-related institutional communication (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy), it explores the following question: To what extent can dealing with Leichte Sprache and Einfache Sprache in the context of university teaching be useful for future language mediators in Italy?
