The article examines the bronze statuette inv. No. 22 of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze, representing a male figure wrapped in a lion’s skin, falling to the ground on his knees. The statuette, already part of the Medici collection at least from the seventeenth century, had never been analyzed in detail up to now. After retracing the overall history of the piece, the author reviews the different interpretations that have been given of the subject represented to propose the identification with Pentheus. The work is finally analyzed from the typological and stylistic point of view in order to define its chronology and sphere of production.
