The estimation of the ultimate shear capacity of in-plane loaded dryjoint masonry panels is here presented. The test is carried out by using a tilting table. An in-scaled model of the panel is positioned on the table and it is progressively tilted in quasi-static conditions until the failure is observed. The geometry of the tested panel is one of those proposed in the occasion of the 10th international Masonry Conference (10th IMC), held at the Technical University of Milan from 9th to 11th July 2018. The experimental observations are then compared with numerical results obtained through kinematic limit analysis approaches.

Abstract

The estimation of the ultimate shear capacity of in-plane loaded dryjoint masonry panels is here presented. The test is carried out by using a tilting table. An in-scaled model of the panel is positioned on the table and it is progressively tilted in quasi-static conditions until the failure is observed. The geometry of the tested panel is one of those proposed in the occasion of the 10th international Masonry Conference (10th IMC), held at the Technical University of Milan from 9th to 11th July 2018. The experimental observations are then compared with numerical results obtained through kinematic limit analysis approaches.
