The article intends to use Victor Šklovskij’s concept of estrangement as an interpretative key for the analysis of one of the most significant French texts of the immediate postwar period: Aucun de nous ne reviendra by Charlotte Delbo. In particular, the formal procedures used by Delbo in the novel’s introductory chapter to build up the Lager’s imagery are examined. The article assesses the peculiarity of Charlotte Delbo’s writing within the French and European concentration Holocaust literary landscape.
