From the set of experiences conducted on the local field following the 2016 earthquake in the province of Macerata and Fermo, it was understood that the reconstruction, to be successful, requires a shared policy at an adequate scale, to make the interventions for recovery of both social cohesion and the relaunch of competitiveness, particularly necessary for mountain areas that suffered from conditions of marginalization and desertification even before the earthquake. By reading the historical textiles and their recent urban events, not only are fundamental elements of urban development clarified but the foundations are laid for understanding the reasons for the current problems. The tool of the new generation urban project is proposed as an opportunity to recompose a settlement quality of urban environments often subject to profound morphological and functional alterations.
