This writing is a study of Filippo Vitale's later works connected to his Southern paintings towards the end of the 17th century which have given rise to new interest. Particularly "Lot's escape from Sodoma" (Fuga di Lot da Sodoma) so far unpublicised, but documented in the photographic Archive of Federico Zen, claiming that this painting was among Vitale's best interpretations, as well as depicting a frequent subject in the works of 17th century painters. In this present study there are also reproductions of other known versions painted in Vitale's studio, in close collaboration with his step-son Pacecco. One can reflect on this complex but also fascinating problem of the relative concerns between the student and his master.

Abstract
This writing is a study of Filippo Vitale's later works connected to his Southern paintings towards the end of the 17th century which have given rise to new interest. Particularly "Lot's escape from Sodoma" (Fuga di Lot da Sodoma) so far unpublicised, but documented in the photographic Archive of Federico Zen, claiming that this painting was among Vitale's best interpretations, as well as depicting a frequent subject in the works of 17th century painters. In this present study there are also reproductions of other known versions painted in Vitale's studio, in close collaboration with his step-son Pacecco. One can reflect on this complex but also fascinating problem of the relative concerns between the student and his master.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
