Abstract
The impact of digital technologies and tools in the construction industry raises questions about designers, companies, and contractors’ role. Within the current advanced digital ecosystem, resiliency is a fundamental requirement at all scales. A systemic change is happening, and new competencies are needed to manage complexity. Digital manufacturing technologies - robotic arms, 3D printers, smart-assembly and combined machines, to name a few - occupy a fundamental role in this scenario. These technologies are the basis for the mass production of variability and performative architecture based on digital data. The widespread use of digitization and automation allows for a groundbreaking building culture that combines visible and invisible technologies in a continuity that goes from design to construction. Consequently, higher education needs to create new skills, leveraging the central role of architects as digital construction site managers for intelligent site applications.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
