In the past, the traditional duo designer-user has maintained a tacit separation between the two roles: the first one was the single expert in designing the project, whilst the second one was a simple and passive tester on which the final product was optimized. By the evolution of participatory design, as “profane” of the sector, the importance of user itself was further strengthened towards a “sacred” conversion as active element in conceptual phases of the artefact. This contribution reflects on the evolution of the user and questions his role in today's design.

Abstract
In the past, the traditional duo designer-user has maintained a tacit separation between the two roles: the first one was the single expert in designing the project, whilst the second one was a simple and passive tester on which the final product was optimized. By the evolution of participatory design, as “profane” of the sector, the importance of user itself was further strengthened towards a “sacred” conversion as active element in conceptual phases of the artefact. This contribution reflects on the evolution of the user and questions his role in today's design.File in questo prodotto:
