We present a prototype, low-cost device, which could be used for a flood monitoring system along with an early warning system. An Arduino UNO microcontroller is used to control the system, which is interfaced to the GSM modem and HC-SR04 echolocation sensor. If the water level calculated would be higher than the level threshold, the microcontroller would enable SMS to be sent to the communities via the GSM module. Our goal is to present around 20th devices to the communities and deploy them at the critical sites. The device itself will work along with a reference instrument to validate the data from the sensor and with a good calibration one could use these devices in many places along the main rivers and flooding areas.

Abstract
We present a prototype, low-cost device, which could be used for a flood monitoring system along with an early warning system. An Arduino UNO microcontroller is used to control the system, which is interfaced to the GSM modem and HC-SR04 echolocation sensor. If the water level calculated would be higher than the level threshold, the microcontroller would enable SMS to be sent to the communities via the GSM module. Our goal is to present around 20th devices to the communities and deploy them at the critical sites. The device itself will work along with a reference instrument to validate the data from the sensor and with a good calibration one could use these devices in many places along the main rivers and flooding areas.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
