Performance Images in the Age of Bononi · Triumphal entries, religious festivals, tournaments, banquets, theatre : the life of performance during early 17th century in Ferrara cannot be constrained to a genre. Multiple cultures enhance each other. By a partial survey of these events, this paper aims to cross performances with two significant paintings by Carlo Bononi, to find some reciprocities that enrich figurative cultures of that period.
