The present study is divided into two parts: in the first part, the main notions concerning the interests harmed by money counterfeiting will be examined; afterwards, an outline of some Member States anti-counterfeiting legislation will be provided in order to analyse the importance of the Geneva Convention in the harmonization process. In the second part, the new need for protection specifically connected with the introduction of the euro will be analysed; then the focus will be on the provisions adopted in the fundamental Framework Decision of 29 May 2000;4 in conclusion some considerations de jure condendo will be put forward.
