This work is a syntesis of experimental activities on numerical models developed to studing the solidliquid phase change in pure substance and in binary alloy. After a literature review to increase the knowledge on the theoretical aspects, the results obtained by means of models included in a commercial code are here proposed. At last, some foundry problems are numerically investigated.

Abstract
