The 15th century brought forth a rich bilingual Latin-German grammatical literature in the German-speaking world, which promoted the development of a grammatical terminology in the vernacular. The aim of this article is to examine the different terminology used in the late medieval and early modern High German and Low German grammatical traditions, devoting special attention to a specific group of terms, namely the names of cases as found in two grammatical texts from the late 15th century: A Heidelberg Latin/High German edition of the "Donatus minor" on the one hand and the Middle Low German "Tractatulus dans modum teutonisandi casus et tempora" on the other.
