Abstract

The aim of this paper is to identify the formal standard features of Dante’s codices, that allow to collect the manuscripts into precise groups, i.e. to distinguish handbook types, realized by the copyists as such, and henceforth demanded and sought by the customers. In other words, our purpose is to verify if Dante’s Commedia, in its earlier circulation, had a model book, or also more patterns attributable to the nature and form of the miscellaneous manuscript.
