The aim of the reflections presented is to give a series of design criteria for planning a project of "Rural Rehabilitation". The analysis of the criteria allows to evaluate the design idea to guarantee an appropriate level of quality of life and even the respect for the typological characteristics of the existing settlements. The study area is in the Po Delta, declared a "Biosphere Reserve" and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, the examples presented belong to the Province of Ferrara (Italy).
