The study is aimed at the documentation and investigation of the ancient Carthusian orientation system via integrated surveys. The sixteenth-century church of the complex, one of the most important sacred buildings of Renaissance Ferrara, has been attributed to Biagio Rossetti (Ferrara, 1447 approximately - 1516), the court architect and Addizione Erculea architect. Its orientation follows that of the primitive monastic system and certainly a design model of reference of the period. The simultaneous presence of an extraordinary illuminated manuscript, the De Sphaera Estense, should also be remembered, an exceptional document that testifies the Estes interest in astronomy and astrology.
